Our story so far
Litdrive is a charitable organisation and associate subject association, committed to subject specific professional development for teachers, delivered by teachers. We believe that all Engish teachers should have access to subejct specific professional development as a core entitlement. Our mission is to provide access for all teachers to high-quality, subject-specific professional development, share classroom materials, and have the opportunity to learn and collaborate alongside other subject teachers. mentoring support. As a result of this, we aim to support teachers to achieve better work-life balance and retain excellent educators in the profession.
Litdrive was founded in 2017 as a grassroots, non-profit organisation, run by teachers for teachers. Now a leading provision for Engish teachers across the country, Litdrive continues to build upon and provide a platform for the professional expertise, knowledge and insights of the classroom teacher.
We remain committed to placing teacher voice at the heart of professional development. We do this through:
i) a member-shared resource bank of quality assured classroom materials for teachers to upload, share and adapt for use in their classrooms;
ii) subject knowledge-driven professional development delivered by English teachers for English teachers, virtually, regionally and nationally;
iii) regular opportunities for teachers to contribute and collaborate, including our guest blog, member engagement and representation in the sector.
Our strategy
We are just reaching the end of our 2026 strategy and are working with members to co-construct our strategy for the future. 2027 will celebrate ten years of Litdrive, and we are proud of what we have achieved so far, but we continue to remain committed to supporting Engish teachers and leaders for the changes ahead.
2027 will bring the implementation of significant national reform, and we aim to work alogside a number of collaborators and partners to provide high quality professional development to members on key topics, including:
Subject leadership across primary and secondary phases, curriculum, assessment, oracy, reading, subject specific pedagogy and more.
We believe schools should fund memebrship for teachers as part of their core professional development entitlement. Litdrive offers discounted departmental memberships to enable schools and Trusts to cover the cost of Litdrive membership from their budgets instead of relying on individual teachers’ funds. If you are a school or Trust and keen to support our work, get in touch.
We engage with our members with an annual member survey, and we use member voice to provide us with valuable feedback that will help us to continue to ensure that our work is helpful and relevant to teachers. Please get in touch if you are a teacher and interested in supporting our work.
